In collaboration with universities, consortia, research centres, engineers and designers, Olimpia Splendid is committed to the research and development of new solutions to improve processes and products at various levels.
1: reduce the environmental impact of air conditioning technologies by rethinking production processes and raw materials, and optimising energy consumption.
2: increase comfort levels, in terms of thermal and acoustic performance, as well as IAQ (Indoor Air Quality).
3: maximise architectural integration, to simplify applications in new-generation construction and, above all, in retrofitting.
rEUman, Remanufacturing
An advanced research project, funded by the European Union within the Horizon Europe program, dedicated to revolutionising the remanufacturing industry through advanced technologies and sustainable practices. Olimpia Splendid participates in rEUman as a case study, to understand the needs of the home appliances industry and to test the application solutions suggested by the working group.
Safe, “Oltre il Green” (Beyond Green)
“Oltre il Green” is a movement promoted by one of the most virtuous hubs of consortia for circular economies. By recycling end-of-life air conditioners or electrical and electronic equipment, and thanks to extensive research and development, it has been possible to obtain post-consumer recycled plastic polymers. Olimpia Splendid is among the first companies in the industry to introduce these new raw materials, both in the internal components of the product and in part of its aesthetics.
Edera, Energiesprong
Energiesprong is a retrofit model that offers innovative industrialised solutions and a digital process capable of making interventions more effective, faster, economical and inclusive. Promoted and coordinated in Italy by Edera, of which Olimpia Splendid is a partner, it aims to find and disseminate, through an open innovation process, new solutions for more sustainable urban redevelopment.
Aquadue, the double cooling circuit
In 2013, Olimpia Splendid filed the patent for an important innovation in the field of hydronic heat pumps. Drawing inspiration from existing double cooling circuit technologies, Sherpa Aquadue was born: a multi-purpose heat pump that, thanks to the simultaneous operation of its two cooling circuits, avoids interruptions in indoor comfort delivery during the production of DHW (Domestic Hot Water) and recovers energy during summer cooling.
Bi2, ultraslim fan coil radiators
In the early 2000s, fan coil convectors offered a valid alternative for managing hot and cold air with a single unit, but their designed hindered their use in domestic settings. By working on the reduction of thicknesses and an indoor design aesthetic, Bi2 was born: the fan coil radiator that, in a terminal only 12.9 cm thick, encompasses various features (heating by ventilation or radiation, cooling and dehumidification) to manage comfort 365 days a year.
Unico, the air conditioner without external unit
In the end of the 1990s, summer cooling was becoming a standard, but in old town centres, architectural constraints prevented the installation of fixed air conditioners with external units on the façade. This led to the revolutionary idea of designing and producing a technology that requires only two 20 cm diameter holes on the wall for outside air recirculation: Unico®, the heat pump air conditioner without external unit.
