When we imagine the future of our cities and homes, climate change is only one factor to consider. Innovative materials, technology, social transformations, housing choices and new ways of interacting profoundly influence the way we live and inhabit spaces. What will be tomorrow's way of living?
Olimpia Splendid, a leading player in living comfort technologies for almost seventy years, explores this question with an original artistic project, renewing its long-lasting and consistent link with the cultural world. In collaboration with Silvia Bairo, a multifaceted illustrator, who opens windows onto dreamlike and evocative spaces in her drawings, an Artist Residency was thus born: during her stay at the Brescia headquarters, Bairo was able to immerse herself in the company's reality, dialogue with the employees and observe the production processes up close. From this exchange of experiences and visions, taking the seven corporate values as a starting point, seven archetypes of future living were born, each with a distinctive identity and living style.
There is The Mentor, who sees the home as a place of inspiration; The Guardian of Nature, who favours wellbeing and harmony with the surroundings; there is The Caretaker, who wants a safe place for himself and others; and there is The Dream Maker, who focuses on functionality. Then there is The Visionary, who chooses a place that inspires creativity; The Explorer, who feels at home anywhere, and finally The Perfect Guest, whose home is open to all, shared and welcoming.
Futura Expo - Economy X the Environment
(Brixia Forum, Brescia, 7-9 March) is the main event in Italy dedicated to the meeting between companies and citizens on the themes of sustainability, ecological transition and innovation, and this year focuses on the ‘Desire for the Future’, inviting to reflect on the actions to be taken today to build a better tomorrow. It is in this context that Olimpia Splendid has chosen to give a preview of the project, exhibiting in its space the 7 illustrations born from the Artist Residency and involving visitors in the discovery of their own way of living the future. Through digital totems, it will be possible to answer a short test to discover which archetype one belongs to, download a digital card with the illustration corresponding to one's living style and receive an exclusive gadget. Silvia Bairo will also be present at the fair on Saturday 8 March to meet the public and talk about her experience in the Artist Residence.
